Service Tip of the Month - August

For those with kids, the month of August seems to come and go right before your eyes. Parents are running around town buying school supplies, new clothes and slipping in some last minute day trips with the family. It's important however, to make sure your vehicle is not being overlooked. After all, it carries your most precious cargo day in and day out. Here's a short list of some commonly overlooked items. Think about the last time you had these items checked, changed or replaced. If you can't remember, just call us and we'll look up your service records for you.

Radiator Flush: The coolant in your radiator does not last forever. Over time it can break down and start to corrode the inside of your radiator. This can lead to cooling problems and radiator repair. A radiator flush is an economical service that can serve as insurance against bigger problems down the road.

Tire Check: Summer traveling this year has involved a lot of rain, making our tires work harder than usual. The tread on your tires must be adequate for rainy weather or you could end up in a ditch. Checking tire depth only takes a minute. Have you heard of the penny test - if not, call us we can walk you through it.

Inspect Your Brakes: It's a good idea to inspect your brakes every time you have your tires rotated, or if you start hearing unusual noises when braking, to ensure your safety and the safety of others.

Check Your Battery: Last month's blog talked about corrosion in the battery. It is very likely to build up during winter driving. Check your battery posts and cables to ensure you'll have no problems starting up the vehicle.

Check Your Headlights: Sometimes you don't notice that you have a bulb out. Now's a good time to take a look to see if you need to replace a headlight bulb. Not only is it unsafe to drive with one headlight, you can get a ticket!
